Art found Susan at the time she needed it most. What began as a way to heal and reconnect has grown into a lifelong practice of reflection and self-discovery.

Susan holds a degree in Art Education from St. Olaf College and a master’s degree in Education with concentrations in painting and ceramics. She currently teaches art at two public high schools in Minot, North Dakota, including an alternative school. Through teaching, she’s learned that art is only part of the equation — empathy and compassion truly take center stage.

Inspired by her garden and the shifting light of nature, Susan’s paintings of flowers and landscapes feature expressive, lyrical brushstrokes that evoke emotion rather than realism. Her work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect through color, texture, and feeling.
